Hyde Park Is Dumping Spot Of Choice For Heartless Cat Owner
25th March 2010
The last thing a couple out exercising in Hyde Park expected to find was a cat left dumped in a carrier in the centre of all the greenery.
But on Wednesday 24th March, a couple arrived at The Mayhew Animal Home in Kensal Green with the tale of how they had found the poor puss abandoned on their exercise route through the park.
On their first lap round the park on Tuesday 23rd, they had spotted the carrier, but thought little of it, but on a second turn round they investigated the dumped pet box and found a very terrified cat inside. They kept her at their home overnight and rushed to The Mayhew on Wednesday morning.
Mayhew Cat Adoption Officer, Lucy Edwards, said
“I was astonished to hear about how this poor cat had been so callously abandoned! People are so careful not to leave their litter lying around Hyde Park but yet someone saw fit to discard their cat, with no thought to what danger she could have been in. Thankfully, she was found by a compassionate couple who knew to bring her to The Mayhew.”
“We have now named the cat Marie and she is very young at only 6 months and thankfully seems to have put the terrible ordeal behind her and is enjoying lots of attention and cuddles in our Cattery.”
